If Tyla only called herself just mixed race, then we black South Africans would rightfully take offense because her not calling herself coloured when she has black in her 'heritage'/mix would equate to her distancing herself from or disregarding the black that is in her. She calls herself coloured because she isn't just one race, she is multiple races including black mixed into one. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I'm not on X, so I thought let me post this here. Coloured is MIXED RACE that has black in the mix. If a coloured in South Africa says they are coloured, well they are good as claiming black. But they are coloured because unlike me they are not a single race, they are multiple races combined together to make a single race which has black in the mix. Now, a mixed child who doesn't have black in their mix isn't coloured. I call them just mixed race. A mixed child who has black in their mix is coloured. Trevor Noah is coloured. In one of his shows here in South Africa he specified that he is a first generation coloured in his family. Now if he hooks up with a coloured lady, they'll make a coloured family, and so on and so forth. If it goes on through generations... that's basically how coloured people came to be. Mixed people with black in their mix coming together and developing their own community and identity..........
