Screw anyone talking about her addiction on here blah blah blah. Take your own inventory. She was a genius artist and her life was dedicated to her raw talent for blues and torch songs that transcended genre. None of you can imagine singing in front of 100,000 people. She had intense insecurity about performing. I think she’s brilliant.

Just listened to this whole album for the first time. What a collection of diverse and catchy songs, all supported by crackerjack musicians. Too bad Joan didn’t immediately have a sophomore album that could’ve built on Relish. Her career didn’t get the wider breakthrough that it deserved.

One of my favorite albums since the day it was released. Love it to this day just as much.

Listening to and singing this one for more than 20 years now. I always come back to this track. Her voice is so enchanting. This song has had a grip on me since the first time I ever heard it. <3

Watch Joan perform this song within the "Transatlantic Sessions" together with wonderful musicians. You can find that version here on Youtube. Just amazing!

Ok hold up, I need someone to fact-check me here...Like many of you, I remember watching this music video on VH1, specifically Pop Up Video. There was a shot where Joan was on the bed and a total improv real-life sheep jumped over her, and they kept it and slow-mo'd it. She was terrified, but stayed in character perfectly still. I just saw a slow-mo feather duster "jump" over her...did they replace the sheep with the feather duster? Am I nuts?

I’m in the hospital and my young nurse’s name is Theresa. I asked her about this song which she has never heard. I loved this CD but had no idea the video was so weird. I’m going to suggest she just listen to it.

Relish is one of the greatest albums of all time !!! My favorite song is Pensacola. Almost 30 years later, and I still listen to the CD at least once a week.
@sidartha96 Says:
I remember buying the album Relish after watching this song on MTV. This was the first song on the album and used to crank up the volume whenever my parents were not around. Loved the entire album. Especially songs like Crazy baby, The man with a long black coat. Miss those days.
@christinevmiles506 Says:
Great song!! Great Artist!!
@waynethera2712 Says:
Her band was pretty damn good. Relish had many great songs, folk, rock and blues. I thought it was very well done.
@smurftarget Says:
Strange song on Mtv 😂
@TravelinBand747 Says:
I remember seeing this video on either MTV or VH1 in the mid-90s after "One of Us" had become so huge of a hit, and I think I heard it a few times on Top 40 radio, but sadly it never seemed to catch on like I hoped it would. It's a shame because it's a really great song and deserved to be heard more. Nonetheless, it's still a great 90s musical memory for me.
@azraiel1984 Says:
God I miss the 90s, the new millennium sucks.
@deprofundis3293 Says:
This song is admittedly best listened to while laying next to a good speaker with bass and with your eyes closed. (I speak from experience.) The music video is fine but just does not give justice to the genius of this song if you truly just listen to the notes!
@weende1000 Says:
Nossa , como eu demorei a encontrar essa música amoooooo
@moonshadowxox8803 Says:
Best song ever!!!
@kristianfischer9814 Says:
My favorite song from this album, closely followed by Man In The Long Black Coat.
